After losing her dog, the Marine Corps veteran decided she wanted to do something not just for other dogs but for people as well.

Pittston man allegedly sends police on high speed chase

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is in custody after police say he sent them on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle.

According to the Kingston Municipal Police Department, on October 25 around 3:55 p.m., officers saw a black SUV drive past at a high rate of speed.

Officers state they initiated a traffic stop on Market Street and South River Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Police say the driver, 18-year-old James Michael Nardone, from Pittston, failed to stop resulting in him running multiple red lights.

Scranton man indicted after alleged COVID-19 fraud

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A Scranton man has been charged with fraud of $850,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, 42-year-old Yoel Weiss from Scranton was indicted on 41 counts of wire fraud, identity theft, unlawful cash transactions, witness tampering, and false statements to the Small Business Administration.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris called President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday to congratulate him on his election victory, a senior Harris aide said.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the call.

The aide said Harris discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power with Trump ahead of her planned concession speech Wednesday afternoon, scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

Wyoming Valley Interchange set to close at midnight

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — PA Turnpike officials have announced that the Wyoming Valley Interchange will be closed Thursday morning.

According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, drivers traveling on Interstate 476, the Wyoming Valley Interchange (Exit 115) will be closed in both directions from midnight until 5:00 a.m.

Man sent to hospital, hit by truck in Wilkes-Barre

The closure is for crews to safely install an overhead sign and during the closure, drivers should use the next exit and find an alternate route, as noted in the release.
