LEWISBURG — The Union County Resource Center will host a free afternoon of events on Sept. 18 in honor of Recovery Month, starting with a Recovery Simulation and ending with a Block Party.The CMSU (Columbia, Montour, Snyder, Union) Drug and Alcohol Program is facilitating a Recovery Simulation from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 followed by a collaborative “Welcome to the Neighborhood” Block Party hosted by Susquehanna Valley Mediation, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Gaudenzia, CMSU, and Union County from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Union County Resource Center on 480 Hafer Road, Lewisburg.CMSU’s Recovery Simulation aims to help community members and service providers appreciate the barriers people in recovery face every day. The simulation is an interactive experience highlighting the challenges of maintaining tasks, sustaining sobriety and housing, and balancing recovery with mental health issues and/or parenthood.After the Recovery Simulation, the Union County Resource Center invites all to the first-ever “Welcome to the Neighborhood” Block Party. The afternoon will be filled with free hot dogs, snacks, and sweet treats, cornhole and kids’ activities, guest speakers, and live music by local musician Rebecca Jade.Both events are free and open to the public.
