WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Luzerne County has named a new Acting Director and Acting Deputy of the Bureau of Elections.
Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo announced Emily Cook and Steve Hahn as Acting Director of the Bureau of Elections and Acting Deputy of Elections respectively.
Cook has been in the bureau since 2021 when she was brought on as an administrative assistant and eventually promoted to the Deputy of Elections under former Director Eryn Harvey in August 2023.

Crocamo said Cook is adjusting the bureau's workflows to compensate for staffing issues the county is facing. Crocamo says the bureau is short two administrative assistants.
Cook and Hahn reportedly told Crocamo they are working on improving processes by creating more efficient and effective procedures, increasing security and transparency with the election process, and maintaining as much stability within the bureau as possible during the upcoming election seasons.
Officials said Cook and her staff will be finishing the petition acceptance and will begin the ballot proofing for the General Primary to be held on April 23, 2024
