Will you be able to see the eclipse in NEPA?

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — As we turn our attention to Monday's eclipse, we can expect some clouds to "filter" the sunshine. So the question remains, will you be able to see the eclipse?

Monday's solar eclipse will have sunshine, but high-level cloud cover may mix in for the afternoon.

At this point, it shouldn't have much impact on being able to see the eclipse. Monday's temperatures will be much warmer with highs in the mid-60s.

A total solar eclipse only lasts a few short minutes, NASA says the time you’ll have to see the total solar eclipse is based on where you are located on the path of totality which could determine how long the eclipse will last near you.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, most of Pennsylvania lies within the 90% covering range so viewing the eclipse is possible. The eclipse will begin in our area around 2:00 p.m., the totality eclipse phase will last from 3:15 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. followed by the concluded phase at 4:30 p.m.

Many school districts in the NEPA area have decided to dismiss students early due to the time of the solar eclipse.

We are still several days out, so keep checking back for forecast updates as we get closer to the date.
