Woman assaults first responders, charged with DUI

JERSEY SHORE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman faces multiple charges after a crash led to her assaulting first responders.

According to the Lycoming Regional Police Department, officers responded to the Thomas Street exit ramp of State Route 220 (SR-220) for a motor vehicle crash.

Police say 60-year-old Linda McCormack was involved in a crash after she used the emergency turnaround and rear-ended another vehicle.

Officers say upon arrival, McCormack stated the other vehicle pulled in front of her and hit her.

Investigators say, the driver of the other vehicle, a pickup truck, was sitting at a stop sign just off of the Thomas Street exit ramp when he noticed McCormack coming up behind him quickly when McCormack ran into the back of his truck.

According to police on the scene, McCormack had the "odor of an intoxicating beverage" coming from her breath.

Officers say, that when McCormack was told she was being placed under arrest, she threatened to bite police.

The criminal complaint says medics attempted to look at McCormack before she went unresponsive and then came to again.

According to the affidavit when McCormack came to, she began trying to bite officers again as she was being placed on a stretcher and then kicked a medic in the face.

Police say Linda's B.A.C was .212 percent and she also had Clonazepam in her system.

McCormack was with simple assault, aggravated assault, DUI, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, and reckless driving.
