Driver dies after crashing into truck on I-80

PORTER TWP., CLINTON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are reporting a two-vehicle crash that happened on I-80 that killed a 23-year-old driver.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on April 3 around 7:43 p.m., troopers responded to a crash with reported ejection on Interstate 80 mile marker 171.6 in Clinton County.

Police say a truck was traveling on I-80 when heavy traffic congestion was up ahead with vehicles in both lanes driving slower than the posted speed limit.

The truck put on its 4-way hazard lights and slowed down to 25 mph when a car, traveling at an unknown speed, crashed into the rear-end of the truck, PSP stated.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old man, from Danville, was severely injured and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lycoming County Coroner's Office.

The two occupants in the truck were not injured.
