CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a one-month-old girl suffered severe injuries leading to her death and now her father is facing several charges.
According to the Carbondale Police Department, Chase Hawley, 23, admitted to police he harmed his infant daughter, Cecilia Hawley, on October 15 while trying to feed her.
Police say Hawley was alone with the infant after the mother left for work. Hawley told investigators he was trying to feed the girl, but "she would not take the bottle."

As stated in the affidavit, Hawley said he became frustrated and forced the bottle into the victim's mouth, causing her to bleed, Hawley then admitted to shaking the infant multiple times.
The victim was flown to Janet Weiss Children's Hospital in Danville where it was determined that she suffered an "acute head injury." The Montour County Coroner confirmed with 28/22 News that the victim was pronounced dead on October 18 around 2:00 a.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for October 22 and the death is considered suspicious
Hawley has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and simple assault.
