DANVILLE, MONTOUR COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An area hospital is helping its patient's families this Christmas in a big way. The Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital opened its Holiday Toy Shop for families Thursday afternoon.
28/22 News Reporter Amelia Sack has more on how the hospital is making holiday wishes come true.
Christmas music rang out through the halls of the Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital on Thursday afternoon at its free Holiday Toy Shop.
The event has become a holiday tradition at the hospital for patients' families.
"It's a real big help for the parents that don't get a chance to go shopping for Christmas and are able to come down here and get some things for their kids to put under the tree when they go home," said Childlife Program Manager Maggie Heimbuch.
At the shop, families of patients can pick out gifts for all of their children, siblings included. Some parents shop for multiple kiddos.

Three-year-old Everlee Fessler from Schuylkill Haven is only a child.
Her mom, Jenna, says the shop still serves as a big help for their family.
"It certainly brings our spirits up when we're stuck being in the hospital for days and days and days on end," Jenna explained.
Everlee has been battling cancer for the past two years.
She'll soon be going home for Christmas.
While it's been a tough time for their family, her mom says she is grateful for events like these.
"It's super helpful for our family it makes us happy it makes her happy and it just makes our stay more pleasant," Jenna added.
There will be another holiday shop for families on Monday.
