WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Luzerne County man has been arrested in connection with a fatal August 23 crash on Interstate 81, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers say an arrest warrant was prepared by PSP charging 30-year-old Zackery Thiede Laiuvara, of Nanticoke, with a felony charge of Homicide by Motor Vehicle While DUI and misdemeanor charges of DUI General Impairment and False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities.
Motorcyclist killed in deadly River Street crash
According to a PSP release, crews responded around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23 to a one vehicle crash that resulted in one man dead.
Investigation revealed that Thiede Laiuvara was the driver of the vehicle and transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley to be treated for injuries and was released shortly after.
On August 29, Thiede Laiuvara turned himself in, according to the release.
Thiede Laiuvara was arraigned and transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
His bail was set to $150,000.
