Naked man accused of assaults at senior living home

BUTLER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police arrested a man after they say he broke into an assisted living home while naked and assaulted several residents.

According to the Butler Township Police, officers received a 911 call from the Fritzingertown Senior Living Community around 11:50 p.m., claiming a "naked intruder" was assaulting residents in the facility.

Police stated that 35-year-old Zane Brobst, of Drums, broke into a private apartment and assaulted the 87-year-old female resident inside. The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Leigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

The commotion alerted an employee and the victim's 76-year-old neighbor. When they confronted Brobst in the hallway, he allegedly grabbed the staff member by the neck before hitting the 76-year-old, knocking her to the floor.

Brobst reportedly broke into three more rooms before employees were able to barricade him inside a laundry area until police arrived. Officers say that Brobst "showed signs of drug impairment."

Fritzingertown Senior Living Community in the 100 block of South Old Turnpike Road remained open during repairs of the damage Brobst allegedly caused.

Brobst is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, and other related offenses. He was unable to post the $30,000 bail and remains in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
