Two charged after gun fight in Jefferson Township

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a weekend gun fight in Jefferson Township has left two people in custody.

28/22 News Reporter Joe Mason explains what led up to the violence and the charges both suspects now face. That gun fight happened on Sunday night on Cortez Road in Jefferson Township.

51-year-old Michelle Brislin and 48-year-old Ted Kalinowski are the two suspects. Both are now in custody.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by 28/22 News, a police officer was flagged down by Brislin and her father after she alleges she was assaulted and strangled by Kalinowski.

She says Kalinowski also threatened to kill her and her kids.

Brislin has visible injuries to her face and neck.

Brislin says an argument began between the two over a Facebook post.

The incident continued outside, where Brislin says Kalinowski shot at her car with his AR-15 and threw a stone through her windshield.

Brislin says she shot a handgun inside and outside their home while they were arguing because she feared for her life.

Brislin is being charged with Discharge of a Firearm Into an Occupied Structure, which is a felony.

While Kalinowski is being charged with Strangulation, Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats.

All of those are felonies.
