Driver dies after vehicle hits tire of truck on I-81

BUTLER TWP., SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report a driver died in a crash after his vehicle hit the tire of a truck, causing him to roll over.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on September 2, around 2:00 p.m., a crash occurred between an SUV and a truck on Interstate 81 north in Butler Township, Schuylkill County.

Driver charged after deadly W-B Twp. crash

Police say the crash happened when the SUV hit the back tire of the truck. The impact caused the SUV to roll over an unknown number of times.

The driver, Esau Foster, 81, of Kingston, was extricated from the SUV and flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital.

Troopers reported that Foster died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
