(WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say a New Jersey man died from drowning at the Delaware River Gap National Recreation Area on Tuesday.
Around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the park's emergency communications center received a report of a drowning in the Delaware River, according to the press release.
National Park Service rangers and dive team members, New Jersey State Police, and water rescue teams from the Portland Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, officials added.

Authorities explained the crews located and recovered the body of a 30-year-old man from Parsippany, New Jersey, from the river.
Officials say the water was approximately 17 feet deep where he was found.
According to the release, the man attempted to swim across the river and went over.
The identity of the man has not been released at this time.
