SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Charges were filed against an inmate in Lackawanna County Prison after officials say he stabbed his fellow inmate to death.
Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian J. Gallagher stated 43-year-old Eli Calero of East Stroudsburg has been charged with homicide for causing the death of fellow inmate, Michael Jones Jr., during a fight at the Lackawanna County Prison.

District Attorney Gallagher says that an altercation happened after the two had fought over access to a newspaper.
Jones Jr. suffered injuries after Calero stabbed him, which resulted in his death, as stated in the release.
Both Calero and Jones Jr. were United States Marshal Service prisoners being housed on the same block.
