(WBRE/WYOU)— Join Nick and Ricky as they talk to Pittsburgh Sports Now Steelers Beat Reporter Alan Saunders to get his opinion on the Steelers Week One performance against the Jets, and some concerns headed into their Week Two matchup against the Seahawks.

No active shooter threat after US Naval Academy receives reports

(NEXSTAR) -- The United States Naval Academy, located in Annapolis, Maryland, was locked down Thursday evening as the military school's security and law enforcement responded to the area.

Thursday night, Naval Support Activity Annapolis, the academy's security organization, posted that just after 5 p.m. ET, officials and local law enforcement responded to "reports of suspicious activity" on academy grounds.

"There is no active shooter threat," NSAA said Thursday.

OYFS employees could be prosecuted after ruling

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A ruling passed down this morning by the Pennsylvania Superior Court has reopened the door for five Office of Youth and Family Service employees to be prosecuted.

The Pennsylvania Superior Court has partially upheld and partially overturned a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling that dismissed all charges against the five Lackawanna County Office of Family Youth and Service employees.

Local college remembers 9/11 with ceremony

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Thursday marks 24 years since the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Luzerne County Community College held a ceremony Thursday morning to reflect and remember the events that happened on September 11, 2001.

The ceremony remembered the nearly three thousand lives lost on September 11, 2001.The ceremony included a flag ceremony, the national anthem, pledge of allegiance, an invocation and benediction, and a final alarm ceremony.

30+passengers on school bus during rollover crash

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Emergency crews responded to a report of a school bus rollover Thursday afternoon in Franklin Township and a major road is closed, according to Columbia County Communications Center.

Officials say they responded to the scene of a school bus rollover with entrapment just after 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Southern Drive and Ashton Hollow Road.

Columbia County Communications Center confirmed that there were thirty-one passengers aboard the school bus at the time of the crash.

Charlie Kirk murder investigation gains momentum

(WBRE/WYOU) — The investigation into the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk is intensifying.

The FBI released a photo of a person of interest. The I-Team's Andy Mehalshick speaks with a longtime prosecutor about the case and challenges investigators are facing.

Two dead after helicopter crash near Jim Thorpe

CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Carbon County Coroner has confirmed two people are dead after a helicopter crash.

According to the Carbon County Communication Center, units were headed to the wooded area near the 300 block of Maury Road near Penn's Peak for an aircraft down.

Officials say the helicopter crash involved a helicopter that was doing linework, but did not know exactly what they were doing.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lackawanna Coroner has identified the victim who was killed in what the district attorney called an inmate-on-inmate assault.

45-year-old Lackawanna County Prison inmate Michael Jones died as a result of blunt head trauma and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Lackawanna County Coroner.

FBI releases photos of person of interest in Kirk shooting, rifle found

Officials say the assault happened at the Lackawanna County Prison on Tuesday afternoon, around 12:30 p.m.
