MAYFIELD BOROUGH, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The coroner has released information after a fatal motorcycle crash overnight in Lackawanna County.
According to the Lackawanna County Coroner, 21-year-old Andrew Heid of Peckville was fatally injured just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning in Mayfield Borough on Route 107 when he lost control of his motorcycle.

SWOYERSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A weekend-long festival in Luzerne County is serving up thousands of chicken wings with a side of community. The Annual Swoyersville Chicken Wing Fling is getting close to wrapping up for day one.
Organizers say the festival continues to grow, now with a dozen wing vendors, estimating to sell around 40,000 wings to hungry guests.
The event is in its third year, raising money to update and make local parks more inclusive for families.
5th Annual Brandon Bisignani Volleyball Tournament kicks off in Moscow

MOSCOW, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A volleyball tournament in Lackawanna County had dozens of players competing to honor a young man who lost his life in a car crash. More than a hundred people attended the fifth annual Brandon Bisignani volleyball tournament in Moscow.
Brandon was 27 years old when he died in a 2019 crash, and now his family has made it their mission to raise awareness about distracted driving.
Final day of Saint Ann’s Novena underway in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Lackawanna County church is celebrating the final day of its Novena service. This is the 101st year of the celebration. The final masses are going on in the basilica for the feast day of Saint Ann.
Saint Ann's solemn Novena began last Thursday with masses and services for anyone to attend in West Scranton.
The Novena is an annual pilgrimage of faith to honor Saint Ann, the mother of Mary and the grandmother of Jesus, taking place over nine days and ending with a feast.

SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The man that was involved in a fatal two-car crash has been identified, according to Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes.
Fernandes says that man killed has been identified as 38-year-old Matthew Brown of Elysburg, who was leaving work when the crash happened.
Officials tell 28/22 News crews were called to the 900 block of PA-93 at about 2:45 p.m. for a reported crash.
Nearly 90 people evacuated after Weatherly AC fire

WEATHERLY, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say nearly 90 people were evacuated from a Weatherly senior community building after an air conditioning unit caught fire.
Officials say crews were called to the Heritage Hill Senior Community for a reported structure fire just before 1:10 p.m. Saturday.
There were no reported injuries, and the Citizens Fire Department led the response to the incident.
Assistant Fire Chief of the Citizens Fire Company, Paul Bray, told 28/22 News when crews arrived on scene, they found smokey conditions inside the building.

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A morning crash involving two buses slowed down traffic along Interstate 380 (I-380) Southbound Saturday morning.
According to Trooper Anthony Petroski, troopers were called just before 9:00 a.m. to mile marker 10.1 on I-380 Southbound for a report of a crash.
When troopers arrived on-scene, they found that the crash involved a tour style bus and a short school bus.
Lane restrictions to cause backup on Route 11
Petroski says that none of the 40 passengers on the tour bus sustained injuries from the crash.
