WATSONTOWN — The National Wreaths Across America mobile exhibit will make its first Central Pennsylvania stop from 1 to 7 p.m. June 17 in Watsontown, according to Susan Wilt, WAA Watsontown location coordinator.

EFFORT, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are giving drivers some information on traffic patterns involving construction projects in the area of the upcoming Pocono Races.

State police say the Pocono Races are set to kick off on Saturday, June 21, and continues into Sunday, June 22.

Authorities explain that flaggers will be in Effort, Monroe County, at the 115 project to let Southbound traffic from the race to continue through on the following times:

Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

PENNSYLVANIA (WBRE/WYOU) — According to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) data, in 2024, there were nearly 10,000 crashes involving a distracted driver, resulting in more than 6,000 injuries and 49 deaths.

Paul Miller's Law will take effect on Thursday. Under this new law, if you have your phone in your hand, for any reason, while driving, you could face consequences.

Effective June 5, 2025, Paul Miller's Law makes it illegal to hold your cellphone while driving.

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) is launching a new career and technology academy thanks to a $1,000,000 state grant and private donations.

The program hopes to open doors for high school students at area career and technical centers, giving them a chance to earn college credit, while training for high-demand fields like welding, HVAC, and early childhood education.
