Cody Balmer referenced Palestine & Governor Shapiro in 911 call after Governor's Residence fire; court documents show

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Cody Balmer, the man accused of setting fire to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's Harrisburg residence, made references to Palestine in a call shortly after the fire, according to court records released Wednesday.

According to an affidavit filed by Pennsylvania State Police, Balmer allegedly called Dauphin County 911 on April 13 around 2:50 a.m., nearly an hour after the fire at the Governor's Residence.

Kenneth Tapia was ordered to serve at least 20 years for third-degree murder on Tuesday.

Police say when Tapia was 17 years old, he shot Robert Dawson during a fight near Weston Field in April of last year.

Dawson later died at the hospital. Tapia pleaded guilty to homicide charges back in February.

Gun found in student's backpack at school

Police say during routine security protocols at Pocono Mountain West High School, a firearm was detected and, after a search, a gun was found in a student's backpack Tuesday morning around 7:00 a.m.

Federal authorities are assisting with the state investigation into the arson attack on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro's (D) official residence, and Attorney General Pam Bondi told reporters Wednesday she wants the person responsible to end up "behind bars as long as possible."

"It is absolutely horrific what happened to (Shapiro)," Bondi said, noting that she has known the governor for years.

"Those photos — it was horrible. I firmly believe that they wanted to kill him," she added.

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been charged after police say he put a hidden camera in a bathroom to record women while using the shower.

According to the Dallas Borough Police Department, officers were called in November 2023 for a woman reporting that she had found a camera hidden inside a smoke detector in a bathroom.

The woman claimed that 63-year-old Albert Pritchard had put a hidden camera to secretly record her and two females, one of whom was under 18, police stated.
