HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Local officials are celebrating a new company expanding in our area. The Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Sigler was in Hanover Township for the opening of Itoh Denki's USA.
The company specializes in manufacturing conveyor belt systems and parts.

The opening is an expansion of its current headquarters.
Officials at Itoh Denki say it will bring in 30 new jobs and support 50 existing positions.

MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 13-year-old Nolan Wurster of Montoursville has loved fire trucks and all things firefighting ever since he can remember.
"My dad took me down to the firehouse one day when I was about four, and I just started liking the fire company," said Nolan.
That visit and many others that followed inspired Nolan to hold fundraisers and donate his birthday money to the Montoursville Fire Department.
His acts of generosity resulted in the firefighting community nominating him in 2024 as a "Here's to You, Kid!"

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Formal hearings on property value appeals began on Monday in Lackawanna County after tax hikes are expected to affect some property owners.
Some homeowners are expressing their frustration with the process.
28/22 News Reporter Joe Mason spoke to property owners and county officials about the reassessment.
"I'm kind of frustrated that Lackawanna County used my taxpayers' money to hire this company that produced completely bogus results," Lackawanna County land owner Maksim Kunim said.
