How the earthquake shook those in Monroe County

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One of the closest areas to the epicenter in New Jersey is East Stroudsburg in Monroe County.

That is where 28/22 reporter Jason Livecchi spent his day talking to many people who felt the earth move.

Several businesses and East Stroudsburg High School felt the earth shake.

At East Stroudsburg High School South, the teachers moved out to the hallway when they felt the quake wondering if it was construction or a jackhammer.

The principal announced on the intercom informing the students and staff that there was an earthquake, noting the building was fine classes resumed.

At Frazetta's costume store, employees say the costumes and decorations begin to move during the quake.

Well, it's my first time ever experiencing an earthquake so I wasn't sure really what it was. my feet started shaking the plants removing the walls we all got freaked out and then we found out. it was an earthquake which we assumed, but it was really scary actually," explained Karen Kirschner the secretary at East Stroudsburg High School South.

"I was working here in the jewelry case, and I started to feel everything was vibrating, and I looked up everything from the ceiling to the masks was just shaking so all the masks were like wiggling, and I just held onto the case," added Alma Barrantes Frazetta's costume employee.
