PSP searching for suspect in chase, evading arrest

MILTON, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State Police have identified the suspect they say evaded arrest after a chase Tuesday morning in Northumberland County.

In a release, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say at about 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, troopers tried to initiate a traffic stop on a white sedan with a fraudulent NJ registration on State Route 254 Westbound in Milton.

State Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Thomas Donfrancesco of Winfield.

PSP trying to find missing woman

(WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are asking for the public's help in locating a missing woman from central Pennsylvania.

Troopers are trying to find Rebecca McNellis, 45, of Benner Township.

State Police say she was last seen on September 5 around 10:00 p.m. in the 700 Block West Market Street, Pottsville City, Schuylkill County.

McNellis is described as 5'6", about 260 pounds, with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes.

Sept 9 marks 14th anniversary of 2011 flood

(WBRE/WYOU) — Tuesday, September 9, marks 14 years since residents saw rivers running down their roads.

According to reports from LuzerneCounty.org, the flooding, caused by Tropical Storm Lee, saw the Susquehanna River rise to a record 42.66 feet, surpassing the previous record held by Tropical Storm Agnes.

Police reexamining 1994 cold case murder

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 23-year-old Gail Matthews and her five year old daughter Tamara Berkheiser were killed inside their Williamsport home in September of 1994.

Lycoming County District Attorney Tom Marino told 28/22 News that the case was never really closed, but now he says he hopes that new technology, namely DNA technology, can help bring the killer to justice and give a family peace.

Two sentenced in death of local barber after road rage crash

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two men have been sentenced for a road rage crash that killed a well-known local barber.

John Darko of Clark Summit and Paul Viscomi of Scott Township pleaded guilty in June to involuntary manslaughter after a crash in March 2024 killed 49-year-old Brian Nardella.

Judge Moyle sentenced Darko to 25-60 months and Viscom to 30-60 months on September 5.
