Road reopened after heavy rains caused temporary closure

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Heavy Sunday afternoon caused a roadway to close for about two hours due to flooding.

According to PA511, Gordon Mountain Road was closed between Bittle Street and Exit 119 I-81 North Highridge Park Road due to flooding just after 2:00 p.m.

The road was reopened just before 4:00 p.m., according to PA511.

McDade splashpad reopened after temporary closure

The McDade splashpad has been reopened after being closed for almost a week due to a water pump issue.

Authorities say parts of the tiles have chips and cracks, causing leaks, and they want to make repairs all at once instead of piece by piece.

Warrant issued for man who allegedly pistol-whipped pregnant woman

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A warrant has officially been issued for a man who police say pistol-whipped a pregnant woman in the middle of the street and dragged her inside an apartment.

Hazleton City Police have filed an arrest warrant for Rodelfy Liriano Corniel on the charge of Simple Assault after police say he physically attacked another person.

Police say they responded to the area of 550 Alter Street just before 11:00 a.m. on July 11 for a report of a man attacking another person.

Man rescued after falling off rope ladder into mineshaft

SUGAR NOTCH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— One man was rescued after falling from a rope ladder while trying to exit a mineshaft, according to Hanover Township Fire Department.

According to Hanover Township Fire Chief Temarantz, crews were called to the Brodhead Avenue around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning after two men were exploring a mine shaft, and one fell off a rope ladder approximately 40 feet down the shaft.
