Vincent Mumma is a member of Boy Scout Troop 418 in Hunlock Creek. He was looking for an Eagle Scout project. He saw a local veterans memorial that needed some freshening up and found the perfect project. His inspiration was someone who had quite an impact on his life.

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A male juvenile was arrested Friday after threats closed Carbondale Area High School and led others to ramp up security.
The juvenile, arrested in Savannah, Georgia, is accused of making multiple online threats targeting schools in NEPA.
Although the threats were deemed uncredible, districts like Carbondale Area, Scranton, and Valley View are using the incident as an opportunity to take extra precautions and review their protocols.

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Stroudsburg Borough officials say they are considering a ban on single-use plastic carryout bags for some businesses.
Borough officials are asking for residents' input on a possible plastic bag ban that will impact businesses across Stroudsburg.
The ban would include plastic bags at the point of sale and use in pickup or delivery sales.
Officials stated as an alternative, businesses can provide paper bags, have reusable bags for purchase, or encourage customers to bring their own reusable bags.

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people, including a child, were injured during a shooting in Williamsport over the weekend.
According to the Williamsport Bureau of Police, on September 14 around 12:40 a.m., officers were called to the 500 block of Fifth Avenue for a report of shots fired.
Police say a large group was gathered in the area and then dispersed when the shots were fired.

Video games have always been a hobby for Monroe County natives Nelson Pena and his brother Ricardo.

PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are currently investigating an "intentional" crash involving a driver hitting and killing a motorcycle rider in Plains Township.
According to the search warrant filed by Plains Township Police, on September 13 around 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the 500 block of North Main Street for a crash involving a truck and motorcycle.
Police said they soon learned the crash was intentional and the truck had fled the scene.

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — According to the Carbondale High School principal, a second suspect is in custody after another threat against the high school was made over the weekend.
"In an effort to remain as transparent as possible, we felt it necessary to inform of an incident that was brought to our attention," stated Carbondale High School Principal Joseph Farrell.
On Monday, school officials sent a notification to parents saying they were told by several students that a verbal threat was made against the school over the weekend.

MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania State Police Montoursville will host a free license plate return event to replace peeling or unreadable plates.
State Police and Representative Hamm's office will host the event on October 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the PSP Montoursville barracks at 899 Cherry St. Montoursville, PA.
According to a release, license plates that are unreadable or peeling will be replaced for free. All paperwork will be done and mailed at the event at no charge.
