NEWPORT TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Five people have lost their home after a fire Monday morning in Luzerne County.
Officials state the fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. on the 200 block of East Main Street in Glen Lyon.
Residents, along with their pets, were able to safely evacuate from the building.
1 injured, 4 dead after Hazle Township crash
A firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat-related issues. There were no other injuries reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced.

The sky diving business, Above the Poconos Skydivers, held the adrenaline rush event.
Organizers say the veteran-based non-profit, Wounded Warriors Project, received $35 from each tandem jump this weekend.
Some jumped to honor a vet, others did it for the thrill, and some jumped for both.
Veterans and their families were offered free skydives as a new Independence Day tradition.
HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) says four people are dead and one man was sent to the hospital after a Hazle Township crash that led to a fatal car fire.
In a release, troopers say just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, crews were called to a crash on the Cando Expressway, or State Route 924, west of its intersection with Oakridge Road.
During their investigation, state police say that the driver of the car was traveling north on the Cando Expressway, lost control, and crossed over into the oncoming lane.
It was opening weekend for the Back Mountain Memorial Farmers Market, held at Dallas High School, which raises funds for the local library.
WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It's back to work for crews trying to fix an electrical problem that is keeping the Wyoming Valley Mall closed.
They resumed the job Saturday morning after having Friday off for the holiday.
Word on the scene near Wilkes-Barre is that they are trying to replace a permanently damaged cable with a new one to try and restore power as quickly as possible.
