Residents report citrus odor from kratom plant

WEST WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Something stinks in a part of Luzerne County, and residents say their quality of life is being destroyed by that odor. The smell is coming from a business which admits it is the source of the problem.

The company at the center of the concerns and controversy is KB Crash Creations in West Wyoming.

Company officials say they have taken steps to mitigate the odor problems and insist they want to be a good neighbor, but many residents say they just want the odor to go away once and for all.

Graduate's claims of school shooting at Dallas High School debunked

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A graduate of Dallas High School was seen in a video online falsely claiming he lost his brother and best friend in a school shooting in Dallas in 2017.

"A week later, I had to go back to that school, and that was the worst part. Cause you had to walk past that spot where I saw my best friend, where I had to pretend it was all normal. It was not normal," Polachek said.

Wilkes-Barre now better prepared for floods

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The city of Wilkes-Barre is now better prepared for a flood.

The city partnered with the Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority to put a facility building at Kirby Park to hold flood walls and house the tools needed to close the Market Street Bridge during a flood.

This facility is approximately a quarter mile away from the bridge to ensure crews can be there within minutes in the case of an emergency.
