Dump truck spills debris all over road in Luzerne County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A road in Luzerne County was closed after a dump truck rolled over.

Crews have been on the scene since around 3:00 p.m.

Two hospitalized after Route 11 crash

It happened in Franklin Township just past the intersection of Orange Road and Demunds Road.

Debris could be seen scattered across the road.

The condition of the driver is not know at this time.

Northmoreland Fire Department headed the response on-scene.

The crash is under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.

Pinwheels prompting awareness in Luzerne County

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. One local organization continues to help kids in need and raise awareness.

Hundreds of pinwheels are being placed across Luzerne County to raise awareness for child abuse. It's something officials say is happening in our own backyards.

Monster Jam returns to Mohegan Arena

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Monster trucks are set to dig up the dirt and fly through the air near Wilkes-Barre this weekend.

Monster Jam is back in Wilkes-Barre Township for its 23rd year. Where eight 15-hundred horsepower vehicles will compete in racing, skills, donut, and freestyle competitions.

“Each of the ramps here, the different angles and things, are all designed so these monster jam trucks can come out here and put on the best tricks possible, I mean they do crazy things on two wheels, four wheels, whatever you can do.”

The event will be held this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and Thursday the dirt for the big show arrived.

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A fire department in Luzerne County just got some new wheels.

The Nanticoke City Fire Department held a dedication ceremony this morning for its brand new fire truck and dozens from the community turned out to show their support.

The new truck replaces a 24-year-old engine and comes equipped with the latest safety features, including airbags, side-roll protection, and a secondary emergency brake on the passenger side.
