Hospital access affected by police activity, updated route

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An active police operation affected access to Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Streets in the area of Barney Street were closed amid a police operation the public was warned to avoid.

Man identified after deadly rollover crash in Luzerne County

In a Facebook post, Geisinger warned that until the matter was resolved, only one route would be available to access the hospital.

Later Sunday evening, Geisinger announced the issue had been resolved and the roadways have since reopened.

Details release on heavy Wilkes-Barre police presence

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Information was released on a heavy police presence that left one dead and impacted a Wilkes-Barre community Sunday afternoon.

The Wilkes-Barre Police Chief Joseph Coffay and District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce released details about the heavy police presence in the area of Barney and Horton Streets in Wilkes-Barre.

Police say in the late hours of Saturday evening, Wilkes-Barre City Police got a report of a physical and sexual assault victim at a nearby hospital.

Man identified after deadly rollover crash in Luzerne County

HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Luzerne County Coroner has identified the man who passed away after a vehicle rollover Sunday morning in Luzerne County.

According to Hazle Township Fire Chief Scott Kostician, Hazle Township Fire & Rescue and Lehigh Valley EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover at 9:51 a.m. on Lattimer and Quality Roads in Hazle Township.

Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes told 28/22 News the crash happened because of a medical event, and the car went up onto its side.

New event blooms in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The crowd came out for the Diamond City flower show and vendor market on Public Square. Plants and flowers, handmade goods, and let's not forget the food, were all part of the attraction.

The Back Mountain-based florist, "Florology," sponsored this first-time event.

"I know we have, like, the Fine Arts Fiesta, but we want, we have a great city here, a great square. We want to bring more people out, more small businesses out here," Florology Floral Assistant Mollie Kuhar said.
