Greater Scranton YMCA host 5k run/walk

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The rain held off for dozens of runners Saturday morning in Lackawanna County.

More than 60 people participated in the Inaugural Greater Scranton YMCA 5k run and one-mile walk.

All of the proceeds will support the annual support campaign for the Dunmore-based YMCA.

This was the sight Saturday at Wilkes-Barre River Commons. Parents, guardians, and their kids all came out to enjoy Chalkfest.

Police investigating shots fired near Bloomsburg Fair

BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— With a heavier police presence near the Bloomsburg Fair.

An investigation is underway after shots were fired late Friday night just a block from the fair grounds.

Police say it happened last night just after 10:30 p.m. as the fair was shutting down.

More than 50,000 people attended the fair on Friday and among those there Saturday night with the crowd were police patrols.

A larger police presence surrounded the Bloomsburg Fair Grounds on the fair's final day saturday, just 24 hours after shots were fired a block away.

Second alarm fire erupts in Wayne County

GOULDSBORO, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Officials say second alarm fire was called in Saturday morning in Wayne County.

According to Wayne County 911 Center, crews were called out to the 100 blocks of Big Chief Trail at 8:30 a.m. for a second alarm fire.

One person is dead after Monroe County crash

Officials say that no one was hurt, but the mobile home was a total loss.

Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Man identified after fatal Monroe County crash

POLK TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pennsylvania State Police have identified the man killed in a fatal crash Friday afternoon in Monroe County.

Officials say 65-year-old James Bruch of Bath, Pennsylvania was killed after his 2010 Jeep Patriot collided with a Mack Truck.

According to the release, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a crash around 3:49 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 534 and Upper Middle Creek Road.
