3 deputies killed in explosion at East L.A. sheriff's training center

An explosion in East Los Angeles Friday morning killed three Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies who were moving undetonated ordnance, according to law enforcement sources.

The blast occurred at the Biscailuz Regional Training Center at 1060 N. Eastern Ave., at about 7:30 a.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The fallen deputies were identified as Detective Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Detective Victor Lemus, and Detective William Osborn. All three were assigned to the LASD Special Enforcement Bureau’s Arson Explosives Detail.

Penn State basketball signs Slovenian forward

(WHTM) - Penn State men's basketball has added Slovenian forward Tibor Mirtič to its roster for the 2025-26 season.

Listed at 6'9, Mirtič played in Slovenia's top professional league, averaging 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 26 games. He also registered eight double-digit scoring performances and two double-doubles.

Last year, Mirtič also played in the ABA League, averaging 11.5 points per game while shooting 66.2% from two-point range and 44.4% on three-point shots.

LGBTQ+ mental health hotline shuts down

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The LGBTQ+ section of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline shut down Thursday following a directive from the Trump administration, drawing bipartisan criticism from lawmakers and mental health advocates who warn the move endangers lives.

The specialized LGBTQ+ line, launched in 2022, offered targeted support for individuals in crisis and had fielded more than 1.2 million calls, texts, and chats since its debut.
