Court stops Pennsylvania counties from throwing out mail-in votes over incorrect envelope dates

HARRISBURG — A state court Friday halted enforcement of a requirement that voters include accurate, handwritten dates on envelopes used to submit mail-in ballots, a ruling likely to keep several thousand Pennsylvania votes from being thrown out in the November election.

Luzerne County grocery store is closed after flooding

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A locally owned grocery store is forced to close one of its two locations until further notice due to flooding from Thursday night's intense storm.

Action being taken to clear out Hazle Twp. homeless camp

HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There is new information in an exclusive I-Team report involving a Luzerne County homeless camp and concerns from residents of a nearby apartment complex.

People who live at a nearby apartment complex say they are dealing with theft and other disturbances connected to the camp and say local officials are not addressing their concerns.

"What do you want to see done here?" asked Mehalshick

"I'd like to see the cops get them out of here because it's too much going on!" answered Jodi Cohan Hazlewood Apartment resident.

Teen facing charges after stabbing in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A teen is being charged after he allegedly stabbed another man during an argument in Scranton.

According to the Scranton Police Department, on Friday morning officers were called to a reported stabbing in the 800 block of Hickory Street.

The suspect later identified as Nymere Canada, 19, fled the scene and after a short foot chase officers were able to arrest him.

Man wanted on assault, robbery charges

BRIAR CREEK TWP., COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for a man wanted on assault and robbery charges in Columbia County.

Man accused of trying to lure woman into woods, threatening family

According to the Briar Creek Township Police Department, 29-year-old Lyle Fought has an active arrest warrant for a robbery and assault that happened on August 22 in the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue.

Anyone with information on Fought's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 570-759-0354 or submit a tip on their website.
