Largest fundraiser of the year benefits local university

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Honoring those who have helped serve the community, the theme behind Wilkes University's annual 'Founders Gala'.

The dinner social raises funds for students in NEPA and gives them a chance to speak about their experiences in the program as a first generation college student.

Each year at the event, an award is given based on the criteria of those who help others and give back to the community.

This year's recipient of the Chairperson's Award is Fellerman and Ciarimboli law.

More dirt bikes reported stolen in nearby borough

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Wednesday, 28/22 News told you about reports of missing dirt bikes Sunday night in Luzerne County.

In addition to two being stolen in Plains Township, Kingston's police chief tell us a dirt bike was also stolen in their area as well.

Police searching for car vandals in Monroe County

The chief says the bike was stolen off the back of a pickup truck the same night as the the dirt bikes that were stolen from a garage in Plains Township.

Police are looking into who stole the dirt bikes and if the thefts are related.

Family member speaks out after nephew was shot

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Good news about a young boy who was shot in Lackawanna County last month.

The 12 year old who sustained bullet wounds to the chest is now home and on the road to recovery.

His family calls it a miracle and 28/22 News reporter Gianna Galli sat down with his uncle Thursday afternoon.
