PD: Park fight with gun threats ends with four arrests, one wanted

POCONO TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Four men were arrested and one is still wanted after police say a basketball game led to a fight with gun threats in Monroe County last month.

According to the Pocono Township Police Department, on July 8 around 7:00 p.m., officers were called to TLC Park basketball court for a report of 5-6 people fighting.

Three charged with stealing two PA Games of Skill Machines

SHENANDOAH, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Three men are in custody after allegedly stealing two PA Games of Skill Machines from a food market in Schuylkill County.

According to the Shenandoah Police Department, on August 21 around 7:30 p.m., officers were called to Boyers Food Market for a reported theft of a PA Games of Skill Machine.

Two arrested in East Stroudsburg motel drug investigation

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people have been arrested after an undercover investigation resulted in a motel drug operation being shut down.

According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, on August 27 around 3:00 p.m., Sean Johnson, 50, and Cathi Jones, 52, were captured in Alabama after a warrant was issued for their arrest in Monroe County.

Mosquito spraying scheduled in parts of Wyoming Valley

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Luzerne Conservation District (LCD) will be conducting a truck-mounted ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control operation across Luzerne County.

Officials with LCD stated a truck will go around residential and recreational areas for the following areas to spray for adult mosquitoes;

Forty Fort

West Wyoming

Wyoming

Exeter

West Pittston

Plains Township

The control work will begin in the evening hours on Wednesday, August 28.

Crash closes section of I-476 for 16 miles

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A section of I-476 was closed for around 16 miles due to a crash Wednesday morning.

Crews tell 28/22 News a crash occurred on I-476 Southbound shutting down the roadway from mile marker 117 Clarks Summit to Wyoming Valley, which is around 16 miles.

Officials said around 3:00 a.m. a dump truck carrying 23 tons of milling, which is a recycled asphalt pavement, hit the railroad bridge on the turnpike.

The dump truck then traveled about 600 feet down the road, damaging a sign on the railroad bridge, parts of the road, and six barriers.
