LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission announced two deer have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Two adult male deers tested positive for the disease in Luzerne County 40 miles from the closed CWD case.
Hazleton YMCA reopens after almost 6 years
One of the deer was from a farm, which will now be under quarantine for the next five years to keep the fatal disease from spreading.
At this time, there is no evidence that CWD can be spread to humans or other species under natural conditions.
