Check your trick-or-treat route for potential predators

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — It's not something parents think to check before heading out to trick-or-treat; Who lives at the house your children are walking up to for candy?

According to officials with the Stop Abuse Campaign, when situations exist that draw in children, they also attract predators. 

Does this mean we should avoid trick-or-treating? No, but officials say it is important to recognize the need to keep your children safe no matter the circumstance.

Three wanted after food truck armed robbery in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for three men after they allegedly robbed a food truck at gunpoint in Wilkes-Barre.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on Tuesday, October 29 around 10:30 p.m., officers were called to a food truck on Hazle Street for a reported armed robbery.

Officers said three employees were inside the food truck getting ready to close when three men wearing ski masks entered the truck.

Pennsylvania candies you may find while trick-or-treating

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Halloween is the time of year for kids of all ages to go trick-or-treating and collect some sweet treats, many of which have origins in the Keystone State.

Pennsylvania is home to the most prominent chocolate manufacturer in the United States: The Hershey Company, which produces Halloween treat favorites such as Hershey Chocolate Kisses and the Hershey Chocolate Bar.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden took a swipe against Donald Trump's supporters as he reacted to the Republican presidential nominee's weekend rally at Madison Square Garden, which was overshadowed by crude and racist rhetoric.

In a call organized by the Hispanic advocacy group Voto Latino, Biden on Tuesday responded to a comic at Trump's rally who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.” Biden's initial comments were garbled.

Tunkhannock Area School District bus involved in crash

EATON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Tunkhannock Area School District bus that had students on board was involved in a crash Wednesday morning.

Crews were called to a bus flipped on its side around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Tunkhannock Area School District confirmed there were students on the bus with no serious injuries.

According to PennDOT, Route 29 was closed in both directions between the intersections of Route 292 and Route 29, and Tioga Street and Route 29.

The crash scene has since been cleared and the road is back open.
