WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — This summer marked 28/22's Third Annual Hunger Free Summer Campaign. We collected donations to feed families in need, and thanks to our viewers' generosity and Gerrity's The Fresh Grocer, we did just that.
When school is out for the summer, many kids lose access to meals they relied on, and their families are left struggling to provide.

First-year students and their families filled campus, unloading cars and checking in at designated tables.
To keep things running smoothly, the university assigned specific arrival times.

Returning students will make their way back to campus this saturday to start their own new semester adventures.

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It's been six months since the office of State Representative Alec Ryncavage in Nanticoke was firebombed.
The crime was captured on a security camera. It shows what appears to be a man lighting two objects and throwing them at the front of the office.
Six months later, and there's no word of an arrest.
The I-Team's Andy Mehalshick went looking for answers.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Several townships have filed a lawsuit in Lackawanna County in an attempt to change ambulance dispatch procedures in the North Pocono area.
Covington, Jefferson, Madison, Roaring Brook and Springbrook townships have resolutions in place that designate the Covington Independent Volunteer Fire Company as the primary Advanced Life Support provider for their townships, according to a news release sent out by Lackawanna County Communications Director Patrick McKenna.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The City of Scranton announced plans to demolish multiple blighted properties throughout the late summer and fall.
Mayor Paige Cognetti's office released a list of planned demolitions on Tuesday.
"With these demolitions, we are nearing 100 properties taken down during our administration to help increase property values through the city and eliminate dangerous structures," Mayor Cognetti said.

FAIRFIELD TWP., LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We now know the identity of a Texas man that was killed in a crash in Lycoming county on Tuesday.
The Lycoming County Coroner says 71-year-old William Scott was driving a rental car when he lost control, going airborne for about 100 yards and crashing into an embankment, dying from blunt force trauma.
Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling stated that on August 19, they were called to a crash over the I-80 overpass onto Brushy Ridge Road in Fairfield Township.

(WBRE/WYOU) — Attorney General Dave Sunday joined a coalition calling on the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to take action on the ban of a drug linked to deaths in Pennsylvania and across the country.
In a letter to DEA Administrator Terry Cole, 21 Attorneys General issued a warning on bromazolam, a dangerous and unregulated designer drug often referred to as "designer Xanax."
According to the release, the synthetic drug is "highly potent and unpredictable, especially when mixed with opioids."
