LAURELTON — A Centre County man was cited for trespassing at the former Laurelton Center on Sept. 28, according to state police in Milton.State Trooper J. Myers reported the incident occurred at 6:25 p.m. Sept. 28 at the former center in Hartley Township.Myers charged the 37-year-old Bellefonte man in the Mifflinburg office of District Judge Jeffrey Mensch.The property is located at 19200 Old Turnpike Road, Hartley Township.There have been 16 trespassing incidents at the site in 17 months.— JUSTIN STRAWSER

5 dead, including 4 children, in Carbon County house fire

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It has been a somber day in one part of Northeastern Pennsylvania after a fire destroyed a home and took the lives of five people. That tragic fire happened in Carbon County, claiming the lives of five people, including four school-age children.

"Shock, devastated, you're distraught, you know," Lehighton Area School District Superintendent Jason Moser stated.

That was Moser's reaction when he arrived at the scene of a house fire on Willow Street in Franklin Township.

Wayne County school wins state, national recognition

HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Out of the 500 school districts in the commonwealth, one school district in our area won a state award. The award is given based on academic performance and progress being made to close the achievement gap among students. 

Students at Lakeside Elementary piled into the gymnasium for a pep rally on Wednesday morning, but rather than sporting the school colors red, black, and white, they were decked out in blue.
