Former President Trump holds rally in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Former President Donald Trump held a rally in the Electric City Wednesday afternoon.

Former President Trump spoke for nearly 90 minutes at Riverfront Sports in Scranton. You can watch his full speech in the video player above.

Around noon, supporters of Donald Trump were lined up on the property of Riverfront Sports waiting to get into the event.

Police chase ends with arrest of wanted man

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A police chase in Wilkes-Barre ended with the arrest of a man wanted on a warrant, police stated.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on Tuesday, October 8 around 3:20 p.m., officers were trying to pull over a driver on Sullivan and South Franklin Street.

The driver, later identified as Paul Chavis, 55, of Wilkes-Barre, did not stop for officers when they activated their lights and sirens starting a chase, police said.

FREELAND, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is being charged after police say he moved another man's body out of an apartment, leaving him outside of the building.

According to the Freeland Police Department, investigators began looking into the death of Matthew Tanner, whose body was found unresponsive in front of a building known as the "Cottage Hotel" on October 14, 2022, in Freeland.

After further investigation, detectives issued a search warrant for video evidence from the apartment building.

Former President Trump returns to NEPA for rally

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY — Former President Donald Trump is aiming to grow support for his candidacy in the keystone state as he will return to NEPA for a rally on October 9.

Former President Trump is expected to make remarks at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Riverfront Sports Complex on West Olive Street. Doors will open at noon for those registered to attend.

PennDOT announces lane restrictions on Route 309

KINGSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced lane restrictions on Route 309 near Sheetz in Kingston Township.

The lane restrictions will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10.
