Luzerne County business serving up cups o' Joe for runners

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — For runners, or really anyone looking for a little pick-me-up, there is just the spot. Drip Coffee Company at South Main and Water Streets in Pittston was packed with customers.

The business is typically a drive-through, but they turned it into a walk-up since roads were closed for parade day activities.

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The weather was gorgeous just before the parade for the Leprechaun Loop. The Annual Parade Day 5K Run and One-Mile Walk takes participants throughout the streets of Downtown Pittston.

This is the ninth year they have held the running and walking event that features what many consider a challenging course.

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Tomato Capitol traded in its tomatoes for shamrocks on Saturday. Dozens of local businesses, civic groups, and performers marched and road through the streets of Pittston for the city's Saint Patrick's Parade.

Main Street in Downtown Pittston became a sea of green.

Thousands of spectators came out to the city's 12th Annual Saint Patrick's Parade. It's the region's first of the season.

Despite wet weather at times, the energy was high for people like Bill Trimblett of Harding.

Man dies after being hit by car near Interstate 81

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland identified a 63-year-old man that was hit by a car on Wednesday.

Rowland says 63-year-old Anthony Mazzie died Friday from his injuries sustained in that crash.

Officials say Mazzie was hit around 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of the Interstate 81 South ramp and Main Avenue.

Mazzie succumbed to his injuries at Geisinger CMC in Scranton.

The crash is still under investigation by Scranton Police Department.

Felony child endangerment charge...

LEWISBURG — A Lewisburg woman accused of leaving her sleeping child in a vehicle in December had one felony count withdrawn on Thursday.Following a preliminary hearing for Qing Jiang, 41, of Walnut Road, Lewisburg, on Thursday, Lewisburg District Judge Jeffrey Rowe withdrew a felony count of endangering the welfare of a child. A misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person; and a summary account of leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle were bound to Union County Court.Jiang is scheduled for a formal arraignment at 8:30 a.m.
