PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — From parking, bathrooms, and times this is the guide for what you need to know about the Pittston Saint Patrick's Parade.

The City of Pittston Police Department is reminding people of road closures due to the Saint Patrick's Parade on Saturday.

Police say roads throughout the city and downtown area will shut down at 10:00 a.m. for The Leprechaun Loop Run/Walk.

Burglar allegedly assaults man while sleeping

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An alleged burglar is facing charges after police say he walked into an unlocked home and assaulted another man while he was sleeping.

On February 27, around 6:30 a.m., Wilkes-Barre City Police were called to Academy Street for a report of a burglary in progress.

Travis Anthony Lanzo was found guilty of the first-degree murder of David Deshler that happened in Scranton on March 12, 2023.

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a Hanover Township administrative assistant allegedly stole over $20,000 of township funds for personal use.

According to the Hanover Township Police Department, 47-year-old Stacy Yetter of Nanticoke, used the township Amazon, Staples, Home Depot, and Wex Fuel accounts to make unauthorized purchases from November 2023 to December 2024.

St. Patrick's festivities kicks off at Firkin Friday

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Saint Patrick's Parade Association of Lackawanna County is hosting its Firkin Friday event to kick off the official Parade Day countdown.

The event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper's Seafood House at 701 N. Washington Ave. The firkin will be tapped at 5:00 p.m.

According to visitnepa.org, the firkin is a special cask containing a locally made beer.

24 charged with multi-million bank fraud scheme

(WBRE/WYOU) — Investigators announced charges against 24 people for an alleged scheme that defrauded Pennsylvania banks and their customers of more than $3 million.

According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, 22-year-old Jeremy Antuan Boria Fraticelli led an organization that targeted people who kept funds at financial institutions in Cumberland, Dauphin, and York counties.

Fraticelli, of York, and the 23 co-conspirators are accused of tricking customers into giving their private banking information by impersonating customer service representatives.

Man sentenced for Musikfest shooting

BETHLEHEM, LEHIGH COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been sentenced for his involvement in a shooting that occurred at a 2022 Pennsylvania music festival in Lehigh County.

Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan announced a state prison sentence for a man charged in a shooting at Musikfest in Bethlehem.

The DA stated that Joshua Nathaniel Colon, 26, was sentenced to three to nine years after a plea agreement was reached in the case, due to the victim’s refusal to cooperate with the investigation.
