Public voices opinion on Wilkes-Barre mural

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The public finally gets a chance to speak on a controversial mural in Wilkes-Barre.

The mural is spanning down parts of Blackman and Arch Streets in the Rolling Mill Hill section of Wilkes-Barre.

The public had the opportunity to share their opinion at the city council meeting Thursday night.

All who spoke, saying it looks like graffiti and is too violent and would rather have something that's more representative of the Diamond City.

PFBC: Possible vehicle restrictions coming to boat launch

FALLS TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Fun at a popular local boat launch has gotten out of control.

Now, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is stepping in to do something about growing issues happening there.

The launch is meant for two things: fishing and boating, but as we reported last year, there was more going on, much of it illegal.

Now the PA Fish and Boat Commission is debating whether restrictions are enough to keep everyone happy.

PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Plymouth man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly not complying with police during a search warrant, according to a Facebook post by the Plymouth Borough Police Department.

According to the post, officers executed a warrant on Thursday at the unit block of Center Avenue in connection with a May 8 shooting.

Vietnam War seaman brought back home to NEPA

SHENANDOAH, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A local Navy seaman from the Vietnam War was finally brought home to Shenandoah.

Third Class Petty Officer Ronald Yuhas was serving in Da Nang during the Vietnam War.

He was delivering munitions in 1969 when his vessel was attacked and destroyed by North Vietnamese.

Paintball tanks headed to Skirmish this weekend

Because his remains were not identified, his parents consented to the Navy burying his remains in the U.S. Naval Cemetery in Guam.

Four-day music festival returns to our area

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Get ready to rock, a popular music festival is back in the Electric City.

The Road to Warped tour kicked off Thursday afternoon in downtown Scranton.

The four day festival features more than 50 acts on various stages.

Disabled children given customized bikes by charity

The large musical event is put on by the Ritz Theatre.

It features acts like "The Millionaires", "Zachary Ross", and "Memphis".

Single day passes start at about $76.

Passes for all four days are also available.
