DUPONT, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A new blacktop basketball court and walking trail is now open in Dupont.
The community turned out on Saturday for the ribbon-cutting, celebrating the new court and trail on Hemlock and Walnut streets.
The first phase cost about $160,000 and was all funded by grants and help from state legislators.
The old court was considered deplorable, and the Dupont Council President says a walking trail was needed since people were starting to walk the streets.
He also hopes the upgrades send a message.
