COVINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It's one of the biggest events of the year in one local community and the biggest fundraiser for the Covington Fire Company. The Fireman's Picnic is now underway, and Tuesday kicked off with a crowd favorite.
The carnival grounds opened at 6 with food stands, carnival rides, and a beer tent, drawing in families from around the area.
Organizers say the week-long event raises nearly $50,000 in profit, money the fire company relies on to fund operations year-round.
