Protestors come out for Vice President Harris' visit to Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Vice President Kamala Harris's visit is being met with plenty of opposition in the Diamond City.

Dozens of protestors gathered near where the vice president is set to speak Friday evening to send Vice President Kamala Harris a message and show their support for former president Donald Trump.

Three arrested for alleged retail theft at Walmart

HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report that four people were arrested after being accused of retail thefts at a Walmart in Luzerne County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers responded to Walmart in Hazle Township for separate retail theft incidents throughout September.

On September 5 around 9:30 p.m., troopers responded to a theft where a 38-year-old woman from Hazleton, stole $128.99 worth of food and medicine from Walmart

Market Street Bridge lane restrictions throughout the week

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT announced a lane restriction will be placed along Market Street Bridge for a week.

PennDOT says there will be lane restrictions on the Market Street bridge in Kingston, beginning Monday, September 16 through Friday, September 20 between 8:00 a.m. and 400 p.m. to conduct bridge inspections.

Officer injured while chasing down suspect

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An officer was sent to the hospital after police say he was injured while causing down a man avoiding arrest.

According to the Hazleton City Police Department, on September 13 around 1:09 a.m., officers pull over a car near Eros Cafe on East Diamond Avenue.

During the stop, an unknown man not involved with the incident started to yell at officers while standing on the street with an open container, police stated.

Two charged with theft, assaulting an officer

MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two Monroe County men have been arrested after allegedly stealing from Weis Markets and then fighting a police officer.

On September 12 Gabriel Valle, 19, and Xaziver Valle were both charged with aggravated assault after an incident with a police officer dealing with a theft call from Weis Markets.

MILTON — James Shaffer, an original abstract artist with Milton roots, is coming home to Milton during this year’s Harvest Festival celebration. James graduated from the Milton High School in 1998. He furthered his education earning a bachelor of arts degree in arts and sciences from Lock Haven University. James has been creating and exhibiting original abstract art since 1998.
