Scammers threatening to shut off people's electricity

(WBRE/WYOU) — Officials are warning about a utility scam that is showing up in northeastern Pennsylvania.

It involves a threat to shut off the electricity to a person's home or business because of a supposed delinquent account.

The scam callers claim to be from PPL Electric Utilities and say payment must be made immediately or the power will be shut off.

Woman charged after apartment complex stabbing

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman has been charged after a stabbing in Hanover Township on May 15.

According to police, Clary Negron Rodriguez, 34, has been arrested after a reported stabbing at the Hanover Village Apartment Complex.

Police need help identifying car burglary suspect

Police say the victim sustained superficial wounds to his abdomen and was not required to be medically treated.

Negron Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged with simple assault.

Police say on May 3, at the Country Club of Scranton in South Abington, there was a burglary.
