EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — AccuWeather Global Weather Center is warning of an increasing threat of brush fires and wildfires across the United States during hot weather combined with record dry conditions.
AccuWeather meteorologists report there is a risk of wildfires this week across parts of 46 states. Specialists said "extreme and exceptional drought" is expanding in parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio.

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say he assaulted officers when he refused to stop for a roadblock due to a crash.
According to the Pocono Township Police Department, on October 21 around 10:30 a.m., officers were on the scene of a crash and traffic was stopped in all directions.
Police say a construction truck entered the intersection, ignoring orders to stop. The driver, Kyle Dale, 30, of Scranton, refused to stop, provide his driver's license, or get out of his vehicle, officers reported.

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials have announced that Route 61 has reopened after a gas leak Wednesday morning.
Officials note that a contractor was working on the Route 61 Frackville to St. Clair reconstruction project struck a gas line between Schuylkill Mall Road, West Hancock Street, and Wade Road.
