WATCH: Trampoline blows onto Lackawanna County road

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Amid power outages and storm damage, the wind was also able to pick up a trampoline in Scranton.

In a video shared with 28/22 News by Casey from Scranton, the wind took a trampoline out of someone's yard and blew it onto Quincy Avenue.

Trampolines can become a hazard in weather like this.

Make sure you anchor down or move items to a protected area that could blow away.

Man found dead after 30-foot fall in Nay Aug Park

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Scranton Police Department is investigating a death after a man fell 30 feet while walking near Nay Aug Park.

Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland said a 23-year-old man from Northhampton County died on Sunday after he fell off a 30-foot rock face directly to the rear of the Nay Aug Park Green House Project.

Rowland explained that the man fell onto the railroad below, bordering the Roaring Brook.

Bus carrying bagpipers crashes into tractor-trailer

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — UPDATE: A crash that sent around 20 people to the hospital Sunday night involved a bus transporting the Greater Scranton Black Diamonds Pipe Band, officials confirm.

Those same officials tell 28/22 News the bus driver was seriously injured and that the amount of people taken to the hospital has increased to approximately 20.

Crews battle Wilkes-Barre house fire

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News is waiting to hear if it was the weather or something else that sparked a fire in Wilkes-Barre.

Crews brought a ladder truck to the scene at South Franklin and Sullivan Streets.

The fire sparked on Sunday at around 3:30 p.m. and caused some neighbors to evacuate.

There is no word if anyone was injured after the fire in the Diamond City.

Scranton firefighter passes away after cancer battle

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News has some sad news on Sunday about a Scranton firefighter whose health battle inspired a community outpour of support.

28/22 News spoke with Scranton Fire Lieutenant Kelly "Hoppy" Hopkins last September, shortly before a big fundraiser on his behalf.

Hopkins was battling stage four paroesophageal cancer.

Storm damage spotted across NEPA

(WBRE/WYOU) — With heavy winds and power outages, many are seeing damage across the Keystone State.

Heavy winds are to blame for downed power lines, backed-up traffic, and closed businesses in Lackawanna County.

Just off the O'Neil highway in Dunmore was where a pole and powerlines have been stripped down.

The pole and powerlines came down around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and police tell 28/22 News they landed on two cars.

Officials say one woman needed to be checked out by EMS, but she is okay.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — As power outages are impacting many in Pennsylvania, electricity was seen arcing across power lines in the Diamond City.

Sean Mellner shared with 28/22 News footage taken in South Wilkes-Barre of the blue light burning across a powerline twice.

This happened Sunday afternoon in the area of South Pennsylvania Boulevard and High Street.

Power outages impact thousands across PA

(WBRE/WYOU) — As rain and winds impacted the central and northeastern part of the state, thousands across Pennsylvania experienced power outages Sunday evening.

As of 9:30 p.m., over 7,500 customers across Pennsylvania were experiencing power outages, according to PPL. As of 8:30 a.m., Monday, that number dropped to about 5,000 customers.

According to Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, almost 300 of their customers experienced power outages Sunday night.
