Pike County man convicted alleged of sexual assault of minor

PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The Westmoreland County District Attorney, Nicole Ziccarelli, announced the sentencing of a Pike County man on sexual assault charges.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney stated that 62-year-old David Stone will spend six to 23 months in jail after being convicted for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl inside a camper at Keystone State Park.

Man charged with homicide after alleged drug delivery

The victim states that this happened in 2020 when she went to the campground with Stone and his wife, according to the release.

Near misses at school bus stops prompts new legislation

(WBRE/WYOU) — Keeping children safe at school bus stops, that's the goal of proposed legislation in Harrisburg.

State Senator Lisa Baker introduced the legislation which calls for increased penalties for drivers who pass school buses that have their warning lights and safety mechanisms engaged.

28/22 News has obtained exclusive video of several close calls as local students were getting on or off school buses.

Man charged with homicide after alleged drug delivery

LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been charged with homicide after police say he delivered drugs resulting in death.

The Lycoming County District Attorney says Keith Reitz is being charged for the overdose death of 46-year-old, Nicole Bassett.

Investigators say in October 2024, Reitz supplied Bassett with crack cocaine he bought in Wilkes-Barre.

Police say the two smoked it together, then Reitz left and Bassett was later found by her roommate unresponsive and later pronounced dead.

Monster Jam returns to Mohegan Arena

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Monster trucks are set to dig up the dirt and fly through the air near Wilkes-Barre this weekend.

Monster Jam is back in Wilkes-Barre Township for its 23rd year. Where eight 15-hundred horsepower vehicles will compete in racing, skills, donut, and freestyle competitions.

“Each of the ramps here, the different angles and things, are all designed so these monster jam trucks can come out here and put on the best tricks possible, I mean they do crazy things on two wheels, four wheels, whatever you can do.”
