Railriders ready for season opener 

MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — NEPA sports fans love to see a buffed and shined diamond this time of year all because baseball is back!

Lighting up the diamond at PNC Field, with Champ walking up to home plate ready to hit it out of the park and kick off the baseball season.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders have their season opener on the road this Friday, but in two weeks – fans will see major improvements made at the ballpark in Moosic.

Teen charged after delivery driver shooting injures baby

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are charging an 18-year-old after they say he shot at a delivery driver, causing a crash that injured a baby.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, 18-year-old Jonyel Henriquez Diaz was arrested for allegedly shooting at 20-year-old Rufino Jimenez De La Cruz in the 600 block of North Main Street on the night of February 10.

Police stated De La Cruz was working for Uber and was in the process of making a delivery when he and a passenger in his car got into an argument with two other men in a parking lot.

Coffee shop offers 'robbery special' after burglary

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A person was caught on camera burglarizing a popular coffee shop in downtown Wilkes-Barre Tuesday.

The owners of Abide Coffeehouse say someone broke into the shop around 1:45 a.m.

The person got away with some cash and damaged parts of the shop. The owners say they are thankful no one was hurt.

In the security video, you can see a person wearing jeans, a dark hooded jacket, and a mask wandering through the shop opening cabinets and doors before exiting the building.
