Local urologist weighs in on former president's diagnosis

Bread Basket of NEPA gets running boost in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The sound of an effort could be heard to help keep food on the table for struggling families and individuals in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Roughly 100 runners and walkers hit the pavement on Sunday in Scranton for the Second Annual Bread Basket Bolt. It's the biggest fundraiser for Bread Basket of NEPA.

The non-profit provides food to tens of thousands of people through seven Lackawanna County food pantry locations.

Organizers say the community's need keeps rising.

More than three dozen performers from Pittston's Joyce School of Irish Dance took to the stage this afternoon at Misericordia University.

They performed in a show called the Magic of Dance.

FORKSTON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A special event near Meshoppen gives veterans and people with disabilities a day to enjoy the great outdoors. The North Branch Trout Derby Association held its Annual Trout Derby on Sunday in Forkston Township.

More than 1,500 trout were stocked in Mehoopany Creek, and some of the trout are as large as 26 inches.

Participants received bait, gear, and support from fishing guides to make sure everyone had a chance to reel one in.

It brought crowds from all over the state, offering art lovers and passive painters alike a little bit of everything.

The sound of jazz music filled the Public Square on Sunday as the final act of the four-day Fine Arts Fiesta played a final tune.

The smell of funnel cake filled the air.

Artists, art enthusiasts, and locals looked to enjoy the atmosphere one last time for another year.
