Red Cross offers incentive for those who donate

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The American Red Cross says there is a critical need for blood and offers a financial incentive for those who donate.

The Red Cross says they are looking for donors of all blood types, particularly those with type O blood to keep the blood supply levels stable as fall begins.

To encourage donations, the Red Cross is offering a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice for those who donate by September 30, and a $10 Amazon gift card to those who donate during the month of October.

SCRANTON, Pa. (WHTM) -- Governor Josh Shapiro welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Commonwealth Sunday, where the two leaders signed a pact between state and the Ukrainian province of Zaporizhzhia.

A new Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center will open Monday, this time in Union County.

It's located in Lewisburg at the Union County Resources Center on Hafer Road.

Owners of classic and sporty cars put their rides on display Sunday at Redline Truck and Trailer in the Abingtons.

Proceeds from Sunday's event will benefit Griffin Pond Animal Shelter's emergency medical fund, clinic, and general shelter needs.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Nearly 200 people set foot Sunday morning on Joe's Early Bird 5K Run and One-Mile Walk.

The fundraiser at Kirby Park is to benefit the Times Leader Executive Editor Joe Soprano who is battling stage four esophageal cancer.

The run and walk, coupled with basket raffles, raised more than $18,000 to help Soprano and his family with medical expenses.
