Sayre man sentenced for threatening to burn house down

SAYRE, Pa. (WETM) – A Sayre man has been sentenced to serve time in state prison after officials say he threatened to burn a house down with a woman inside.

Shawn G. Palmer, 33, was sentenced to a minimum of seven months to a maximum of four years in state prison for the crime of terroristic threats, as stated in a release from the Bradford County District Attorney's Office.

According to the school, all students and staff are safe and have evacuated the building.

Scammers threatening to shut off people's electricity

(WBRE/WYOU) — Officials are warning about a utility scam that is showing up in northeastern Pennsylvania.

It involves a threat to shut off the electricity to a person's home or business because of a supposed delinquent account.

The scam callers claim to be from PPL Electric Utilities and say payment must be made immediately or the power will be shut off.
