What to know, what to do at the 2024 Bloomsburg Fair

BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The 169th Bloomsburg Fair is here, and there are many things you may need to know about the upcoming special event.

According to the Bloomsburg Fair website, the fair has begun with a Preview Day on Friday, September 20, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with some buildings and vendors closed for the day.

On Saturday, September 21, the Bloomsburg Fair fully kicks off and will continue until Saturday, September 28 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Weather may impact opening and closing times.

Paranormal Cirque III is coming to Wilkes-Barre Twp.

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials have announced the Paranormal Cirque III is coming to town.

According to the press release, expect provocative illusionists, freaks, and mysterious creatures, and be on the lookout for zombies, witches, vampires, and ghosts.

"We've assembled an incredible cast of performers, and we can't wait to showcase their talents to our audiences. This show is perfect for anyone looking for a night of entertainment and scares," said Manuel.

Victim killed by heavy equipment at paving company identified

JACKSON TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have identified a man who died after being struck by heavy equipment on Wednesday in Jackson Township.

According to Jackson Township Police Chief Gerald Williams, around 9:30 a.m. first responders arrived at American Asphalt Paving located at 500 Chase Road.

Chief Williams said EMS found that 68-year-old David Brace, from Luzerne, was struck and killed by heavy equipment while in the yard.

No mail ballot drop boxes in Luzerne County during General Election

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — County Manager Romilda Crocamo announced there will be no mail ballot drop boxes in Luzerne County during the November 5 General Election.

Crocamo says she has made the decision not to deploy drop boxes for the upcoming election due to fears the drop box locations offer a potential for illegal activities in this current political climate, such as individuals depositing multiple ballots.

Police look to ID porch pirate in Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are looking to ID a suspect after packages were taken from a front porch residence.

According to the Bloomsburg Police Department, on September 16, they received a report of a package theft in the 500 block of West Main Street.

Several businesses cited for alleged liquor violations

Police said the suspect was seen exiting the SUV, pictured below, taking packages off the front porch, returning to the SUV, and leaving the area.
