Lycoming County announces $5M land sale

LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Lycoming County announced that the county will be receiving $5.4 million in a land sale.

In a release, Lycoming County announced the sale of 1350 acres of subsurface rights in Jackson Township to Range Resources - Appalachia, LLC.

The sale includes an agreement that the county will receive royalty payments on all oil, gas, and hydrocarbons produced from the property.

Officials say the deal comes after over a year of negotiations with Range Resources.

Debris flown into bus drivers window causes rollover, sending 7 to hospital

FRANKLIN TWP., COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Seven out of 30-plus passengers were sent to the hospital after a bus rollover due to debris flying into the driver's window.

Chief Paul Hilliard of the Locust Township Police Department told 28/22 News a bus with 32 students from the Elementary/Middle/High School Southern Columbia Area School District rolled over around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Southern Drive and Ashton Hollow Road.

The driver was operating the bus when debris flew into his side window, landing on his lap, Chief Hilliard stated.

Road closures for Wilkes-Barre Multicultural Parade

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Wilkes-Barre has announced the road closures for the Multicultural Parade and Festival on Saturday.

The following roads in Wilkes-Barre will be closed from 11 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade:

South Main Street from South Street to Public Square

Northampton Street from South Franklin Street to South Washington Street

East Market Street from Washington Street to Public Square

North Main Street from Butler Street to Public Square

West Market Street from Franklin Street to Public Square

Memphis mayor responds after Trump says he's deploying National Guard to city

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) – President Donald Trump said Friday that the National Guard is coming to Memphis to address crime concerns.

Trump made the announcement during an appearance on Fox News' "Fox and Friends," claiming he has the support of both the mayor of Memphis and the Tennessee governor.

He said the city is “deeply troubled” and “we’re going to fix that just like we did Washington,” where he’s sent National Guard and surged federal law enforcement.

SHAMOKIN DAM — The Susquehanna Valley Baptist Church recently acquired an adjacent vacant acre lot. When the woman who previously owned the land passed away, she left the church with the first opportunity to purchase it. Members saw the opportunity as a gracious gift from their neighbor, and now they want to use the land to pay that forward and continue blessing their community.
