Chemical smell from sewer in Jenkins Twp. worries residents

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Residents of a Luzerne County neighborhood say they are very concerned about a strong chemical odor coming into their homes from the sewer system.

The problem surfaced several months ago in Jenkins Township, just north of Wilkes-Barre.

Bridge work expected to cause traffic delays

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Work planned on a heavily traveled bridge that connects two Luzerne County communities is expected to cause traffic delays starting on Monday.

The Pittston City Police Department posted a traffic advisory on Thursday, alerting drivers about construction plans for the Specialist Dale J. Kridlo Memorial Bridge that connects West Pittston to Pittston City.

The span connects Wyoming Avenue (Route 11) on the west side of the Susquehanna River to North Main Street on the east side.

NEPA native has chance to win $25K for nonprofit

(WBRE/WYOU) — A local woman is a quarter finalist in a national competition to win money for her nonprofit, and she's seeking support from the community to help her advance to the next round.

The NEPA native says the winnings would help her expand her organization's impact.

Kylee McGrane-Zarnoch is a Wilkes-Barre native and a graduate of Coughlin High School. She's also the Founder and Executive Director of a Moment of Magic, a nonprofit that brings joy to hospitalized and medically vulnerable children.
