House passes Trump's 'big, beautiful' megabill

(The Hill) – The House passed the GOP-backed "big, beautiful bill" on Thursday. The final vote of 218–214 was largely along party lines, with opposition from only two Republicans.

The Senate had passed the same bill on Tuesday, so the legislation will head directly to President Trump’s desk, where he’s expected to sign it with a ceremonial flourish on Independence Day.

Investigation continues in Debra Fox 'House of Horrors' case

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two homicides, torture, kidnapping, arrests, all tied to a Wilkes-Barre house that police describe as a "House of Horrors."

The remains of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas were found buried in the basement of the Carlisle Street home in February of 2024.

Six people are charged in connection with her torture and murder.

Road closures for Scrantastic Spectacular

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Several roads around the Lackawanna Courthouse Square will be closed for the Scrantastic Spectacular on Thursday evening.

Power returns to Downtown Wilkes-Barre

North Washington Avenue from Center Street to Mulberry Street

Adams Avenue through Courthouse Square

Linden Street from Wyoming Avenue through Courthouse Square

PA parole officer shoots Erie man, PSP investigating

Pennsylvania State Police have now confirmed that a man was killed last night after a state parole agent fired a gun at him.      

This, after there was a major police presence on erie's east side Wednesday evening.

Police were putting up crime scene tape in the area surrounding East 27th and German streets and blocking it off to traffic.

According to a release from PSP, a Pennsylvania state parole agent shot a man, who died from the injury.
