Gymnast 'flipping' her way to success

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The gymnastics community will tell you that most elite gymnasts begin the sport at five years of age or younger, but a local teenage gymnast is proof that passion, determination, and commitment can overcome a late start to excel in the sport.

The twists and turns 15-year-old Chloe Kester takes at United Sports Academy in Scranton took years of practice to perfect, just not as many years as it takes almost all other gymnasts her age with her ability.

Jury finds man guilty in Scranton killing 26-year-old during armed robbery

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A jury has found the man accused of killing a 26-year-old during an armed robbery in Lackawanna County guilty on all counts.

Despite pleading insanity, a jury found Shelton Miles guilty of first-degree murder Monday afternoon.

The 64-year-old shot and killed 26-year-old Jose Tatis Camilo in the back of the head last March during an armed robbery inside the Sunoco gas station on North Main Avenue.

Miles also shot the female cashier, Gopi Soni, in the upper thigh before stealing nearly $1,000 in cash and fleeing.
