Monroe County crime spree suspect charged as adult

CHESTNUTHILL TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A 17-year-old will be charged as an adult after allegedly going on a crime spree across Monroe County, the district attorney states.

According to District Attorney Mike Mancuso, Monroe County law enforcement has filed charges against 17-year-old Kaiden Brown after a series of overnight crimes on April 26 in Chestnuthill Township.

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have named a suspect in the murder of a Luzerne County woman and say they are right now searching for him. 55-year-old Terance Ray from Hazleton is wanted for the murder of 39-year-old Jessica Lockwood.

Her body was found burning along a road in Hazleton last week.

The district attorney and police held a news conference on Monday, which can be found below.

Police say Terance Ray should be considered armed and very dangerous, and investigators say he fled the area.

Crews continue search for 10-year-old in Susquehanna River

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A 10-year-old girl is missing after officials say she was swept away in the Susquehanna River in Lycoming County. Officials from across the area have been tirelessly searching the waters in the area near South Williamsport since Sunday.

The search has ended for the day on Monday. There is still no sign of the missing 10-year-old girl.

Crews could be seen in South Williamsport near the Hepburn Dam, where a 10-year-old was reported missing.

Lane restrictions scheduled for I-81 Tuesday

LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT announced there will be a lane restriction on Interstate 81 southbound for most of the day on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, May 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., I-81 southbound will be restricted from Exit 184 (River Street) to Exit 182 B (Davis Street) for a bridge inspection.

Woman dies after motorcycle crash with vehicle

FRACKVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The coroner reports on a deadly crash involving two vehicles, resulting in the death of a passenger on a motorcycle.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio, a motorcycle and a vehicle crashed on May 2 around 5:00 p.m. in the 500 block of West Oak Street in Frackville.

West Hazleton woman dead after crash

The passenger on the motorcycle, 62-year-old Beth Burlie of Ashland, was pronounced dead at the Leigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

An autopsy will be done on May 6 to determine the cause of death.

Pilots learning the skill of flying drones

PITTSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Drones are growing in popularity, and one academy in the area is making sure pilots are well-educated on its laws and safety regulations.

It's an "all clear" for take-off at The Pilot Mind Drone Academy in Pittston Township.

The facility is a combination of a drone laboratory and a drone playground, training students on how to fly drones as well as overall knowledge of aviation.
